origin - new work published in Tallulah Magazine

I began as an astronomer.  searching for bright flashes, vast distances, unreachable things.

I awake as an ancestor.  here in the beginning of all things.

one line borrowed from the poetry of Troy Jollimore.

I'm so pleased to finally be able to share this image with you which was created for the premier issue of Tallulah Magazine.  A brand new contemporary art and design, print only publication from London.

my piece in Strongbox Magazine

hi everybody!  I know I posted a link inside a couple of my 365 posts about this but I figured I'd officially post it here on my blog as well.

I wrote an article and provided photos on how to build a fashion photography portfolio without spending much money for the Fall issue of Strongbox Magazine.  I had a great time writing the piece and am very honored that Strongbox asked me to write it for them.  if you get a chance please check it out via the link below.  the magazine is amazing with a lot of incredible photography in it!

thanks and cheers~

make a blurb book for free! :)

hey guess what?  the blurb book of headless self portraits I made arrived yesterday!  it's pretty cool to actually see your creation in print.  hear the pages flip, feel the texture.  this was a really fun project for me and now I have the opportunity to give out a $75 coupon to one reader so you can have the chance to make your own book.
now yours doesn't have to be a photo book like mine.  it can be text, or both.  it's all up to you.  making a book through blurb is super easy too.  you can change layouts, choose paper quality and add pages, all sorts of options.  so weather your making yours for yourself or to sell for profit this is a great opportunity to experience the process and get a really cool book that you self published too.

so if you'd like a chance to create your own blurb book worth $75 all you have to do is leave a comment here on my blog telling me what you would like to make your book about and I'll enter you in the drawing.  if you prefer you can leave a comment for me on my flickr or send me a tweet, just be sure to mention the book coupon so I'll know it refers to this post. or comment with all three and get extra chances~  ;)

the contest begins today and runs through saturday july 9th, I'll choose and post the winner on the 10th.  all I require is a valid email address for you so I can provide it to blurb and they can email you your unique coupon code.

see how fun it is to create, publish and then flip through your own book >>>>

my book on a actual coffe table!

the book has been very well received in my house, as you can see

feel free to preview my book for inspiration here or at the bottom of this page.

so, what's your book gonna be about then?

off with her head! - my first photo book~

to my list of titles I now add published author.  :)
I just published my first photo book of self portraits through blurb and man was it fun!
I downloaded the booksmart software from blurb's website and then had to think up a theme to build my book around.  well, I've got lots of selfies so I'll use them.  but what kind of selfies?  to be honest, the ones I had the most of were headless so I decided to go with that for my theme.  why not?
thus was born the photo book "off with her head".
the booksmart software makes it super easy to drag and drop your photos into each of the pages and adding a bit of text was a snap.  it's quite user friendly and easy to figure out.  with so many choices of layouts you can try out lots until you find just the right one.  in fact the only problem I had was stopping.  I have a tendency to want to keep improving things and I finally had to give myself a cut off date. ;)

I had so much fun making this book and I want you to have the opportunity to make one too!
I'm requesting from blurb to be able to give away a $75 free book coupon to one of my readers so you can have the chance to get published as well.  I hope to hear from them soon so stay tuned, I'll let you know as soon as I can run the contest.

there's a preview widget at the bottom of the page as well as a link to preview it on blurb's site on the sidebar.  for some reason I couldn't get it to appear correctly in my post as I had wanted.  oh well, either way, please take a peek and let me know what you think.

thanks to blurb publishers and thanks to my readers!
