it's a curious fact that all of us have in our veins the exact same percentage of salt in our blood that exists in the ocean, and therefore, we have salt in our blood, in our sweat, in our tears. we are tied to the ocean. and when we go back to the sea - whether it is to sail or to watch it - we are going back from whence we came. words borrowed from John F. Kennedy~
why yes, those are water droplets on my lens. and yes, it was purposeful~ :)
I've wanted to create an image inspired by John William Waterhouse's 1892 painting Circe Invidiosa for a long time now and everything finally came together just recently when I found the perfect model, location and wardrobe. Even the weather cooperated by providing a lovely and mysterious soft fog. I'm happy to announce I have a solo exhibition up at Urban Light Studios all this month so if you're in the area I hope you'll stop in to check it out~ muse and HMUA: Diana Jean Oliphant
she pours forth the waters of life and wisdom upon a parched land. I'm so pleased with how this image came out. nearly exactly how I imagined it. :) I was originally taken with the location due to the tiny house and narrow trees in the background. it looked very Tuscan to me and with the worn trail in front heading that way it seemed like a perfect place to put my subject. funny thing was unable to get all the shots I needed in one day. I went intending to shoot it all but was only able to get the background and the pouring water shots. I went back 2 days later and set up in the same spot, well nearly, and got my subject and the hair flip. everything came together in post really well. happy thanksgiving weekend to all my american friends!
